About booking a hotel room in Queenstown New Zealand
Queenstown is a popular destination with many tourists who visit New Zealand throughout the year, so you can expect room rates of Queenstown hotels to be a bit on the high side compared to other parts of New Zealand.
In addition, Queenstown hotels tend to "protect" themselves against possible loss of income and revenue, so have strict cancellation policies and/or offer flexibility by charging higher than normal room rates. Make sure that you are aware of these policies before you book a room at any hotel in Queenstown.
Tip:
Every hotel or motel in New Zealand is required to clearly state what their cancellation policy is, so if you cannot find any on their website, send them an email asking for it or give them a call. If you’re anything like me, you wouldn’t like to suddenly see your credit card being charged months before you actually stay at a hotel, see it being charged for a reservation you made because you did not cancel it 14 days before your stay, or see it being charged a $25 administration or booking fee because you booked and then cancelled your reservation. Make sure you are well informed and read the fine print before you make a reservation.
