Wellington City on a sunny day from the Brooklyn wind turbine

See a photo of what Wellington City and its harbour look like on a beautiful sunny day when viewed from the Brooklyn wind turbine.
The weather for Wellington had been forecasted to be gorgeous on Waitangi Day 2010 (February 6, 2010), and gorgeous it was indeed!
I woke up very early in the morning – something I almost never do on a Saturday – to run my usual errands, so that I could go out for a walk after midday.
My walk of choice for the day would be to a viewpoint overlooking Wellington City and harbour. You may have heard of it. It’s called the Brooklyn wind turbine.
While there are several walkways and tracks in Wellington, which offer scenic views of Wellington and its surroundings, I’ve done this walk before and had been aiming for a while now to do it again when the weather was good enough to allow for nice photos and videos.
The Brooklyn wind turbine is easily accessible by foot from Wellington’s CBD (Central Business District). I’ll write I’ve written an article on the walk to the Brooklyn wind turbine in the near future, but for now I just wanted to share one of the pictures I took yesterday and which I’ve already made the latest desktop wallpaper on my computer.
I did not walk up with the 15 kg (33 lbs) of photo gear I usually hike up mountains with, so this image was shot handheld with no filters or a sophisticated camera.
It was shot with what I call my "toy" camera, a Canon PowerShot G9 – the latest model for this camera is currently the Canon PowerShot G11.
I use my Canon PowerShot G9 to shoot whatever photo I want to shoot without following my own strict rules for landscape photography, and also to shoot video. The video quality it produces is pretty good, I must say. But you can see that for yourself when you take a look at the New Zealand videos I’ve shot.
For now, though, enjoy this photo of the scenic view you get of Wellington City and harbour when you walk up to the Brooklyn wind turbine…
